"So...What Are Y'all Doing Now?"
We are currently living and working in Sequoia National Park, in the southern Sierra Nevada of California. When we're not suffering under the inescapable weight of late stage capitalism, we forest bathe and commune with the ~2000 year old giant trees. We are studying Spanish and planning for two months of travel in Mexico in early 2026. Jessie just applied for her first passport! ✈️ 🇲🇽
Jessie has gotten really into the small web/indie web/web revival movement. (What does that mean? Check out this article - "What Is The Web Revival?") She's doing a lot of 'old school' web surfing/discovery and she just made her first independent website (you're looking at it!). She's been refreshing her HTML knowledge (it's been a long time since her Myspace days) and it's all very fun and exciting! She's also reading a lot of science fiction these days, both novels and short stories. Check out Reactor Mag for free original short stories.
Mikaela is doing a lot of embroidery in her free time, and branching out from cross stitching. She recently started an ambitious project - a blackwork sampler of motifs she compiled from these cool pattern books. She has recently started memorizing various poems by heart to combat the BrainRot™. First up is "Old Ephraim" by Chris Mortensen, a poem/song about a real giant grizzly bear who roamed Logan Canyon with wild abandon in the early 1900s. Please send her your favorite poem(s)! Mikaela is also reading a lot, and recommends These is My Words by Nancy Turner if you need a good book and/or a good cry.
